I am an independent software developer based in Dunfermline in Scotland. The applications I have written are almost exclusively for the offshore oil industry. The areas I have covered in the past include:

Currently, I use Borland Delphi™ for development. Like everyone else, I am feeling the pressure to move to C# and I am currently experimenting.

Almost all of my applications are database oriented and although I have experience with Oracle and Microsft SQL Server, my favourite backend is Firebird. Firebird is an open source project based on Borland Interbase™. For more information on the project, visit the IBPhoenix site.
